HOSPITAL RECORDS FOUND IN ONTARIO CANADA

According to an article by John Burman, which appeared on April 17th on the website of The Hamilton Spectator about a dozen patients had their private health information found in a garbage dumpster behind an Etobicoke coffee shop.

The records were found by a passerby and were, according to the report, copies of patient records made in 2001. The man who found the records turned them over to the hospital. He also called the police, according to the report.

The Information and Privacy Commissioner’s office is also now involved in the incident and has encouraged a complete investigation.
