OHIO DEPT OF INSURANCE FINES FIRM FOR UNSECURE DISPOSAL

An article posted to the website of the Cleveland Plan Dealer on Thursday, March 20, 2008 reports that the Ohio Department of Insurance ordered a local marketing company to pay more than $13,000, including a $10,000 fine, for improperly disposing of sensitive client information. A department investigation found that the company, a licensed insurance agency, threw 14 boxes of files containing sensitive financial and medical information into a trash bin in August of 2007.
