CALIFORNIA EXPANDS NOTIFICATION REQUIREMENT
 
An article posted on January 10th to the website Mondaq.com explains the ramifications of the newly expanded notification provisions of California’s breach notification requirements. Effective the first of this year, the most significant change is in the regulation is that it now includes notification for breaches of medical and health insurance information.
 
California’s original breach notification requirement plowed new territory when it was first introduced and, as other states followed suit, is primarily responsible for the continuing parade of data breach reports filling the daily headlines.
