SENSITIVE MEDICAL/HIV RECORDS FOUND IN DISCARDED BAG
An article posted to the website Metro.co.uk on January 9, 2008 reports that sensitive medical records of patients suffering from diseases, such as HIV and cancer have been found in a courier bag discarded in a street.
The records included names, addresses, date of birth, GP details and NHS numbers of patients. The records were being couriered to facilities in Roehmapton, UK, but, instead, were found on the street by a passer-by.
While the event seems not to have been a careless attempt to casually discard such personal information, it continued to feed on concerns raised by the massive data breach that rocked the British government last year.
